日本を代表するシンガーソングライターとして知られる大貫妙子さんは、山下達郎らとの伝説的バンド、シュガー・ベイブで1973年にデビュー。1977年のセカンド「Sunshower」は、ソウル、AOR、ジャズ、フュージョン、ポップスを融合させたサウンドがのちに世界的に評価され、彼女がシティポップの女王として知られるきっかけとなった。そんな大貫さんは今回のインタビューで、シンガーになったきっかけ、シュガーベイブの結成、過去の名盤の制作秘話、アフリカの野生動物の魅力、フランス映画の素晴らしさなど、ここでしか聞けないトピックについて語っていただきました。

Being one of the most well respected singer-songwriters of Japan, Taeko Ohnuki formed the legendary band Sugar Babe along with Tatsuro Yamashita in 1973. Her second album Sunshower (1977) combined soul, AOR, jazz, fusion, and pop, which helped to popularize City Pop around the world. In this rare interview she talks about how she became a singer, the formation of Sugar Babe, the making of her classic albums, her love of African wildlife and French film.
